The Chicago Writers House is partnering with Uptown United to host the expo, a pop-up bookstore and literary presentation in the city’s Uptown neighborhood, according to Windy City Media Group. The expo itself is on Saturday and Sunday with more than 40 Chicago publishers of fiction and poetry expected to attend. The horse are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The literary events invites book lovers to enjoy the architecture of the two historic structures it encompasses, the first floor of the Goldblatt’s Building at 4720 N. Broadway, the former home of Borders Books, and the basement of Uptown Broad Building at 4701 N. Broadway, rumored to have been a speakeasy, according to the media group’s website.
Related events to the expo include the Preface Reading Series which goes through Friday, a literary nonprofit fair on Saturday, a performance by Chicago rock band Joan of Arc on Saturday, architectural tours by the Chicago Architecture Foundation on Sunday, and a variety of author readings, children’s workshops and special programs.
